Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to Madurai, Tamil Nadu to inaugurate AIIMS medical facility in the city also met a successful MUDRA entrepreneur Arulmozhi Saravanan. Her success story has been mentioned by PM on several occasions.
After the Government launched the Mudra Yojana for small entrepreneurs to get loans without collateral, she applied for a Mudra Loan for her business. She then came to know about the government e-marketplace called GEM, also launched by PM Modi govt, through which people can sell items needed by government offices. After registering she saw a bid for a few thermos flasks from the PMO and responded to the notification. The order was confirmed and completed with the payment upon delivery. Her business grew by supplying products to various offices and she successfully crossed 1crore Rs turnover last financial year.

Under the aegis of PMMY, MUDRA has created three products namely ‘Shishu’, ‘Kishore’ and ‘Tarun’ to signify the stage of growth / development and funding needs of the beneficiary micro unit / entrepreneur and also provide a reference point for the next phase of graduation / growth.
Arulmozhi is just one example out of lakhs of people who have benefited from PM Modi’s pro poor schemes.
